In October 2024, we successfully delivered a complete internal girth weld coating robot system for an oil pipeline project in Iraq, marking another important milestone in our pipeline robot equipment applications for international energy infrastructure.
The system was specially designed for pipeline diameters ranging from 12 to 20 inches, with a total project length of approximately 50 to 80 kilometers. It was developed to meet the demanding construction requirements of long-distance crude oil pipeline internal anti-corrosion work under field conditions.

For this project, the coating material used was a two-component epoxy resin system, with a required dry film thickness (DFT) of no less than 450 microns. The robot system integrates abrasive blasting, continuous vacuum cleaning, and automatic spray coating into one complete operation, enabling internal surface preparation and coating application to be carried out efficiently within the pipeline. The blasting performance ensured excellent surface cleanliness and strong coating adhesion, meeting strict anti-corrosion standards for oil pipeline service.

The complete robot system has an overall length of 7.5 meters and is equipped with a high-definition camera for real-time internal monitoring, providing full visibility throughout the construction process and supporting effective quality control. In a single operation, the robot can travel up to 900 to 1,000 meters inside the pipeline, which greatly improves construction efficiency and reduces the frequency of equipment relocation on site.
To support field installation, a dedicated transition pipe section was specially fabricated for robot deployment. During operation, a crane was used for lifting and transferring the system, ensuring safe, stable, and efficient handling under site conditions.

The successful delivery and operation of this system demonstrated the reliability and high-efficiency performance of our pipeline robot equipment in long-distance internal girth weld coating applications. This project also further highlighted our capability to provide advanced robotic solutions for crude oil pipeline anti-corrosion construction in overseas markets.
